Public Interest and
Community Engagement

SERVING COMMUNITIES THROUGH MEANINGFUL LEGAL AND NON-LEGAL ENGAGEMENT.

We are committed to strengthening the communities we serve — not only through legal representation, but through hands-on involvement in the civic and nonprofit institutions that make those communities work.

We provide both legal and non-legal pro bono (free) service to nonprofit organizations, community groups, and municipalities in New York, New Jersey, and nationally. Our goal is to advance the public good by offering the same level of care, professionalism, and attention to detail that we bring to our private client engagements.

Pro Bono Legal Counsel for Nonprofits

We advise nonprofit organizations on governance, compliance, and internal policy matters. This work ranges from routine board advisory services to complex organizational challenges that require immediate, decisive legal guidance.

In one engagement, we guided a nonprofit through a governance crisis involving a board member who had breached fiduciary duties and acted outside the scope of his authority in an effort to pressure the board into adopting his preferred course of action. We counseled the organization's leadership through the dispute, advised on proper procedures for addressing the misconduct, and helped facilitate an orderly leadership transition. The matter was resolved without litigation, preserving the organization's stability and reputation.

We also assist nonprofits with structural and compliance matters, including bylaw review, governance best practices, officer and director duties, conflict-of-interest policies, and regulatory compliance with state nonprofit law.

Community Fundraising and Event Support

We volunteer on planning committees for charitable fundraising events in the communities we serve. Our involvement goes beyond attendance — we actively participate in event logistics, outreach strategy, and donor engagement, including soliciting contributions from local businesses to support event programming such as auctions, raffles, and other charitable activities.

This hands-on committee work reflects our belief that community service means showing up, not just writing checks.

Public Interest Advocacy and Policy

We contribute to advocacy efforts aimed at protecting vulnerable populations. This includes advising community organizations on strategy and policy development in areas such as combating human trafficking and supporting child welfare initiatives.

Our public interest advocacy draws on our litigation and counseling experience to help organizations develop practical, legally sound approaches to systemic challenges affecting families and children — locally and at the national level.

Our Approach

We approach public interest and community work with the same rigor we apply to every client engagement. Whether we are advising a nonprofit board on a sensitive personnel matter, helping plan a charity event, or contributing to a policy initiative, we bring professional judgment, discretion, and a genuine commitment to the mission at hand.

Through these efforts — both legal and non-legal — we contribute our time, skills, and resources in ways that promote stability, accountability, and meaningful positive impact in the communities we serve.
