After graduating from Fordham Law School, Sung-Min cut his teeth as a litigator at a hard-nosed plaintiffs’-side class action law firm for almost a decade, where his practice was focused on securities fraud litigation, antitrust litigation, and whistleblower (qui tam) cases in courtrooms across the country. For example, in one of the securities class action matters that Sung-Min worked on, his team represented a pension fund serving as lead plaintiff against a publicly-traded tech company in connection with improper options backdating practices, and favorably settled that case for more than $150 million for the benefit of the class.

Subsequently, Sung-Min joined a regional general practice where he rounded out his legal skills for more than five years. He served companies ranging from startups to public companies as their “outside general counsel.” He routinely drafted, reviewed, and negotiated a wide range of contracts, and provided real-time counsel for his clients’ pressing needs. Here, his litigation practice also shifted from sprawling class actions to individual matters, fighting on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants.

Throughout Sung-Min’s career, the high-stakes “complex” litigation matters offered him a proving ground to wrestle with cutting-edge legal issues and manage enormous amounts of eDiscovery. On the other hand, the smaller individual actions taught him to see each dispute as a story with a beginning, middle, and end.

Now, Sung-Min approaches all of his legal work - whether guiding the creation of a new venture or shepherding an established business through its daily challenges - with a litigator’s instinct for risk. Having seen the tremendous toll that litigation can take on everyone involved, Sung-Min tries to prevent disputes where possible and, when they are inevitable, to resolve them with speed and precision. Sometimes that calls for aggressive and strategic prosecution of meritorious claims; other times, it means taking stock of imperfect realities and steering toward the best available outcome.

Sung-Min received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where he was an Associate Editor of the Fordham Journal of Corporate & Financial Law. He received his B.A. from Brandeis University.
